Actress Michelle Yeoh has been receiving praise and awards for her role in ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once.’ Now she is gearing up for the Oscars where she is nominated in the Best Actress category.

Recently, Yeoh took to Instagram to share a snippet of a Vogue magazine article. In it, the writer talks about how there hasn’t been any non-white Best Actress winner for the past two decades.
The article extensively talks about Cate Blanchett, who has been nominated for ‘Tar.’ However, the issue arises that the post might be in violation of the Academy’s rules, especially number 11 titled “References to Other Nominees.” It mentions that “any tactic that singles out ‘the competition’ by name or title is expressly forbidden.” Since then, Yeoh has deleted the post.

At the 95th Academy Awards which is scheduled for Sunday, Yeoh might create history by becoming the second woman of color, and the first Asian to win the award in the Best Actress category.

Prior to bagging this film, Yeoh went through a rough patch in Hollywood. In 1997, she got her Hollywood breakthrough with the James Bond film ‘Tomorrow Never Dies.’ However, what followed was similar stereotypical roles.

“At that point, people in the industry couldn’t really tell the difference between whether I was Chinese or Japanese or Korean or if I even spoke English”, she said. She revealed that she didn’t work for two years because of such offers.
