Ryan Gosling is a name etched in our memories, mainly after his iconic boyfriend role in ‘The Notebook’. Recently, the star had his global hit ‘Barbie’ come out, in which he played yet another iconic role, Ken. However, these were not things that Gosling had planned. He thought his 40s would be different.
Gosling started his acting career at a very young age, through the show ‘The All-New Mickey Mouse Club‘. The ‘Blade Runner 2049’ actor had his leap from the small screen to the movies as he was cast in the teen sports drama, ‘Remember the Titans’ in 2000. The incredible actor has done a number of movies down the lane even when in his early forties.

Ryan Gosling Thought To Quit Acting By 40
Ryan Gosling had once predicted that he wouldn’t be acting at this age and would have probably quit Hollywood. “If I’m still acting at 46, I’ll be surprised,” the actor had once admitted to The Telegraph. “How many characters can you play? I’ve been acting since I was 12. If I was just starting now, maybe. But now I’m 30. If I do this for 10 more years I’ll be shocked,” the actor said back in 2011.
Gosling has been in the industry for a very long time now and he felt like characters have dried out. He thought the 40s to be an ideal age to quit his current career. Though not 46 yet, the actor has hit his early 40s. Not only has he done a strong character but he also has films lined up for the years to come.

Ryan Gosling Took A Break From Acting
Even before reaching the age of 40, the actor had already taken a break from the industry. The actor recounted how he had ‘lost perspective’ of what he was doing. The ‘Drive’ star wanted to take a break and re-access himself, why, and how he was doing.
“And I think this is probably a good way to learn about that. I need a break from myself as much as I imagine the audience does,” the actor shared with The Guardian. The 42-year-old also shared the pressure he was put through taking up his position as the lead man in the movies. Though he passed on hurdles to get where he is today, he confessed that he did deserve a break.
