    “I Just Drowned In His Eyes”: ‘Sex Education’ Actor Ncuti Gatwa Was Drooling Over Ryan Gosling On The Sets Of ‘Barbie’

    The 2023 summer was a treat for cinephiles, with some great cinema clashing at the box office. Greta Gerwig released her magnum opus ‘Barbie’  along with Christopher Nolan’s nuclear drama ‘Oppenheimer.’ The Ryan Gosling-starrer was about how the real world distorts the peace in Barbie Land after Ken and Barbie visit the real world. Margot Robbie’s Barbie tries to bring peace to Barbie Land.

    ‘Barbie’ had a stellar cast, with stars like Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling headlining the film. The other actors included Simu Liu, Issa Rae, America Ferrera, and ‘Sex Education’ stars Ncuti Gatwa and Emma Mackey. Ncuti Gatwa is having the time of his life with the success of the Greta Gerwig feature. He will also star as the Time Lord in the upcoming season of ‘Doctor Who.’ The actor will also return to playing Eric in ‘Sex Education.’ During an interview, he admitted being swooned by Gosling’s eyes.

    ‘Barbie’ has become the highest-grossing film of 2023, earning $1 billion across the global box office. The film featured Barbies and Kens of all shapes, ethnicities, and professional backgrounds. One of the Kens was Ncuti Gatwa. The actor recently did a cover interview for Elle UK before the writer’s strike. During the interview, he talked about his experience working on ‘Barbie’ and drooling over Ryan Gosling‘s eyes.

    Ncuti Gatwa, during the interview, said, “I was so nervous I hardly spoke for the first month [on set]. There was a time when I was talking to Greta [Gerwig] and I turned around and Ryan Gosling was looking at me, and his eyes were so blue that I just fell over. I just drowned in his eyes.”

    The ‘Sex Education’ actor also admitted that Greta Gerwig’s set was the most empathetic set he has been on. He said, “We played So Solid Crew and all these old-school garage tunes, and then we got to Magic Mike and all screamed our faces off at the incredible dancers. Then we all went to [London nightclub] The Box…The group chat the next day was lit.”

    It is Ncuti Gatwa’s universe, and we are just living in it! After starring in a successful Netflix original series, Gatwa is ready to take over the world of ‘Doctor Who’ as he will be starring as the next Time Lord. During an interview, Ryan Gosling applauded the actor for becoming the first Black Doctor in the long-spanning universe of the British series.

    Ryan Gosling said, “I am such a big fan of Ncuti’s, he’s the coolest. Him playing Doctor Who is the most exciting thing that’s happening right now. I’m here for it.” The actor also wore a fan-made T-shirt of Gatwa as the Doctor.

    In a Rolling Stone interview, Ncuti Gatwa talked about how the new iteration will treat the character and the narrative. He said, “The quality I admire most about the Doctor is that they fight for every life in the universe. Good or bad, foe or friend, they see the importance of everyone’s life – and that everyone and everything has a place in the universe.”

    He continued, “And they believe very much in not killing… [but] fighting with love. The show ultimately is about kindness and acceptance and that’s what I love most about The Doctor – and Doctor Who.”
