The Puerto Rican actor met Shakira when she was about to climb the ladder of superstardom. They were a couple and dated for almost a year. There was controversy surrounding their age. Shakira met Osvaldo when he was 36 years old and she was 20 years old. The singing star did not talk much about her relationship with him. Shakira confirmed that the song ‘Moscas en la Casa’ from the ‘Dónde Están Los Ladrones?’ album was about him. On a reality show ‘La Casa De Los Famosos’, Ríos confirmed that as Shakira was just starting she had a whole world to live in, “when you love someone it is better to set him free and it is the best proof of love that you can give him.”
Antonio de la Rúa
Before meeting Gerard, Shakira dated a lawyer and the son of late Argentine President Fernando de la Rúa—Antonio de la Rúa. This was her first longest public relationship. They dated almost for 11 years before calling quits in 2011. On the Grammy-winning singer’s website, she wrote, “Since August 2010, we made a mutual decision to take time apart from our romantic relationship… We view this period of separation as temporary and as a time of individual growth as we continue to be partners in our business and professional lives.”
However, things didn’t go well for Shakira when Rúa sued her for $100 million which he alleged that the singer owed to him. He filed a lawsuit in New York, California, and Switzerland. However, neither of the courts moved ahead with a trial and in August 2013, the claim was dropped.

Gerard Piqué
One of the dreamiest relationships was that of Shakira and Gerard Pique. Shakira got to know about the former Barcelona FC player Gerard Piqué in 2010’s FIFA anthem on the ‘Waka Waka'(This time for Africa) Both were smitten by each other and as Piqué shared, they had the first awkward conversation during the FIFA opening ceremony. They talked about the weather. In 2011, Piqué confirmed their relationship on Twitter and Facebook with a picture captioned, “Les presento a mi sol” (I present to you my sun). The same year, they were seen engaging in PDA during a live performance of Shakira on her ‘The Sun Comes Out World Tour.’
In 2012, they announced that they were expecting their first child, and they welcomed Milan Piqué Mebarak in January 2013. Shakira and Piqué did not marry each other. In 2014, she said in an interview that they have all the essentials for a relationship post-marriage, but if she has to marry, Gerard will be the one. In 2015, Gerard and Shakira welcomed a baby brother to Milan, Sasha Piqué Mebarak.
