Though it’s been a while since it happened, the ‘Friends‘ cast is seemingly still grieving the loss of a beloved friend and co-star. Speaking about the same on the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast, Lisa Kudrow opened up about how much she misses him. O’Brien, who once dated Kudrow, surprisingly revealed how he felt jealous once when Kudrow had praised Perry. Here’s what the two talked about.
Conan O’Brien Reveals He Was Once Jealous Of Matthew Perry
Lisa Kudrow and Conan O’Brien got together on his podcast recently, and couldn’t help but reminisce the times they dated each other, between 1988 and 1993. Kudrow, who is still processing the loss of her ‘Friends’ co-star Matthew Perry, opened up about the experience of losing him and how she still misses him.
While they were still talking about Perry and his talent, the talk show host revealed that he was once jealous of Matthew Perry when his then girlfriend Kudrow praised him. “You started doing that show and you called me up, and you were raving about Matthew and you were saying, he’s so funny and there was part of me that was jealous,” O’Brien confessed to Kudrow on the podcast.
“Like, I was, ‘Okay. I make you laugh pretty hard.’ And you were like, ‘No, you don’t understand. This guy’s really [funny],’” he said. O’Brien further stated that his “entire spirit” was green with envy until he saw Perry in action on the show, which is when he realized that Kudrow was right.
“There was part of me that was like [jealous],” he added, “and then I was watching him and going, ‘Yep.’”

Lisa Kudrow Praises Matthew Perry’s Chandler Bing
When Conan O’Brien revealed his jealousy, Lisa Kudrow chimed in to insist that the host is also one of the funniest people she knows. However, she just couldn’t stop praising Matthew Perry. “Well, now it’s hard to hear, you see,” she teased. “But it is true. That’s just a fact. But [Perry] was such a huge [star].”
Kudrow specially praised Perry’s Chandler Bing from ‘Friends’. “I thought that Chandler character when I read it, and I went, ‘Oh they have a gay character, that’s good,'” she recalled.
“That’s all I heard. And so at the table read, I just did a double take at him.” Kudrow gushed, “I never even in a million years could have envisioned anyone playing the character like that. And with his own rhythm and everything, it’s his own. Impeccable timing.”
