Travis Scott Halts New York Concert Over Safety Concerns For Fans After Astroworld Tragedy

The Astroworld tragedy last year took 10 lives and ended in countless injuries after which rapper Travis Scott was very much traumatized. The rapper didn’t take the stage for quiet a long time after the incident. He has been extra careful about the safety of his fans ever since.

In many interviews, Scott has talked about how the safety of his fans is important to him and how stars should take extra care of it. Looks like he is taking his own advice as he recently stopped a concert in New York City to address safety-related concerns.

Travis Scott had a set at ‘The Day Party: Independence Day Coney Island’ concert in Brooklyn, New York, on Monday. That’s where he saw that the audience was watching the outdoor concert from a lighting structure. He immediately stopped the concert in middle and asked the fans to get down. Scott said, “We need you all to get down.”

In a video shared by The On Aux Podcast, Scott can be heard saying, “Hey yo, my bro, my brother, just make sure you’re OK though, my brother. You hear me?” The concertgoers then made their way down from the top of the structure, and the performance resumed. A spokesperson for the star told the New York Post, “Travis is committed to doing his part to ensure events are as safe as possible so that fans can have fun, and he encouraged fans to listen to requests from security and climb down from the lighting structures so that everyone would be able to safely enjoy last night’s performance.”

In his first post-Astroworld interview last year, Scott said he was unable to hear any screams for help. He also claimed he stopped several times in between to check for safety. “Anytime you can hear something like that, you want to stop the show, you want to make sure fans get the proper attention they need. And anytime I could see anything like that, I did,” Scott said at the time. “I stopped it like a couple times to just make sure everybody was okay. I really just go off of the fans’ energy as a collective and I just didn’t hear that.”
