2022 was a very chaotic year for the American rapper, Kanye West also known as Ye. The artist got himself involved in several controversies which were both personal and social. The social media ban came after Kanye made anti-semitic remarks online. Finally, after 8 months of the ban, his Twitter, now known as X account has been reinstated.
The previous year many people became victims of Ye’s wrath. This included his ex-wife Kim Kardashian and her then partner Pete Davidson. Kanye West Returns To Twitter
It is after 8 months that the ban on Kanye West’s Twitter account was lifted. He was prohibited from the social media platform for violating the rules prohibiting incitement to violence. It seems that the rapper has promised not to use his account to share antisemitic or any other harmful content. According to the Wall Street Journal, Ye will neither be able to monetize his account nor will ads appear next to his posts.
The rapper’s account is accompanied by a gold checkmark which is reserved for business accounts. Kanye has about 31 million followers on the platform. Kanye is yet to respond to these changes. Elon Musk recently stated the philosophy of supporting free speech. And this should have been a resultant action.

Why Was Kanye Kicked Out Of Twitter?
A series of events led to Kanye West’s account getting kicked out of the social media platform. West first sparked dismay after appearing in a “White Lives Matter” T-shirt at the Paris Fashion Week. However, matters became worse as he started to continue his antisemitic rant online and in interviews.
His Twitter post with the swastika on it is what finally led to Kanye West being banned. His final post was on December 1, a day before than ban. Instagram also had Kanye locked out of the app for 24 hours in March as he used a racial slur against Noah Trevor. These rants by Kanye led to many brands including Adidas, Gap and Balenciaga cutting ties with him.
