Tyler Perry was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. His father’s name is Emmit Perry Sr.,  and his mother’s name is Willie Maxine Perry. Though Tyler did not pursue a high school education, he got a GED. Unfortunately, a friend’s mother sexually abused Tyler. This did shatter him, but he found hope in writing. The source of this inspiration was Oprah Winfrey’s show. He started doing live theater, and the letters he wrote to himself became a stepping stone to his stage drama titled ‘I Know I’ve Been Changed. ‘

Perry was destined to be in the industry. Still in New Orleans, he worked at Windsor Court Hotel. There used to be the National Association of Television Program Executives conference. He used to steal the left badges to enter the conferences. This is where he met the ex-host of ‘Wheel of Fortune’, Pat Sajak. He earned $12,000 from selling cars and his bill collector job, which he put into his first production. After the success of the production, he went on tours and built a repertoire. On the road, he created his iconic Madea.

In 2005, Perry went to Lionsgate with a script proposal. For the film, they required a $5.5 million budget. Tyler promised to invest half the money. This created the first film production of Tyler’s ‘Diary Of A Mad Black Woman.’ The film grossed $50 million and earned $150 million from TV and video rights. Perry has created and produced 14 Madea films which helped him to gain 700 million dollars. For TV, he produced ‘Tyler Perry’s House of Payne’ which ran for eight seasons. Perry acted in films like ‘Star Trek, ‘ ‘Gone Girl, ‘ ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of Shadows,’ etc.
