The album is set to drop on February 16, marking the 20th anniversary of the original film ‘This Is Me…Then’ along with the Dave Meyers-directed companion film of the same name. Jennifer Lopez said that many in her close circle were against the idea, chiefly because of the scrutiny that the couple faced in the past from the media. It had ended up plaguing their relationship.

We both have PTSD,” the singer said while speaking about the traumatic experience she and her husband faced in the past. “But we’re older now. We’re wiser. We also know what’s important, what’s really important in life, and it’s not so much what other people think. It’s about being true to who you are.”

Lopez asserted that she decided what her heart asked her to do. “As artists, we have to follow our heart, and this is me following my heart and doing something that maybe everybody didn’t think was the best idea, but I had to do it,” she said.

When asked about the nature of the film, Lopez labeled it a “musical experience.” She urged fans to watch it, and experience it. “Because there’s music, you can see it, you can hear it, and then you’ll get to live it,” she said.

A recent teaser of the album showed Lopez talking about her childhood dreams. “When I was a little girl, when someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, my answer was always… in love,” she said.

The album and companion film will be released under the banner of Amazon MGM Studios in February.

The last gig that Lopez and Affleck acted in together, the 2003 film ‘Gigli’, was a major flop. Lopez nevertheless said she wants to act with Affleck. The couple, popularly known as Bennifer, has seen a lot of ups and downs in their relationship since the early 2000s.

After quite a few rough patches, the celebrities got together in 2021, and got married in Las Vegas a year later, in 2022. They were last seen together in a red carpet appearance at Elle’s Women in Hollywood celebration on December 5.
