Newly-wed Saoirse Ronan is giving fans a rare glimpse into her personal life! The Irish actress, who wed actor Jack Lowden over the summer, shared some cheeky marital musings during her appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon‘ on November 7.
Promoting her latest film ‘Blitz‘, 30-year-old Ronan reflected on her recent wedding and what life has been like since saying “I do” to the ‘Slow Horses‘ actor. And while fans may not expect it, there already are some downs along with the ups in their romantic relationship.
Saoirse Ronan Questions The Purpose Of Her Marriage With Jack Lowden
Saoirse Ronan recently appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s talk show to promote her latest film ‘Blitz‘. But work wasn’t all she talked about. The actress got candid about her secret marriage with husband Jack Lowden in July this year, as well as the nuances of their relationship as husband and wife.
While the show started with some fun banter between her and Fallon, it slowly turned to her married life. “I got married. I’m 30 now. I’m old!” Ronan joked to Fallon, as he then recalled her 2018 duet of The Pogues’ “Fairytale of New York” on his show.
With the memory, Ronan began talking about her husband. During the sit-down, the ‘Ladybird‘ star talked about the sweet nothings and some cheeky relationship goals with husband Lowden.
“I’ve been begging my husband Jack and me to do a silly karaoke duet,” she laughed. “It’s ‘Shallow’ from ‘A Star is Born’. I want him to be my Bradley [Cooper], and I’ll be his [Lady] Gaga. But he hasn’t committed yet. And I’m sort of like, well, what’s marriage for?” the actress jokingly asked.
Saoirse Ronan And Jack Lowden’s Relationship
Saoirse Ronan and Jack Lowden tied the knot in a private ceremony in Edinburgh, Scotland, following six years of largely keeping their relationship out of the public eye. Though they have generally managed to keep their romance relatively quiet, Ronan and Lowden first began whispers of a relationship back in 2018 after starring together in ‘Mary Queen of Scots‘.
In July 2024, it was reported that the couple tied the knot in a secret ceremony with a few friends and family members present. They reportedly had a ceremony in Edinburgh, Scotland, around the weekend of July 20.

Since then, the couple has collaborated on a love of work, recently producing the film ‘The Outrun‘, adapted from a memoir by Amy Liptrot. Speaking to ‘The Times of London‘, Ronan revealed that Lowden had encouraged her to take on the role, saying, “He handed the book to me and said, ‘You have to play this.'”
Though she’s been tight-lipped about their personal life, she affectionately referred to Lowden as her “comrade“.
