Olivia Wilde is the director of the film, ‘Don’t Worry Darling,’ starring Harry Styles and Florence Pugh. There was a major controversy even before the film was even released. Initially, Shia LaBeouf was cast for the role Harry Styles played in the film. Later, it was announced that Wilde fired LaBeouf because she wanted to protect Pugh from him.
LaBeouf then released some voice messages and emails that were sent to and from Olivia Wilde which denies the claim that he was fired. Following these controversies, Florence Pugh has not participated in any promotions of the film. Even when the trailer was released, Pugh made no mention of the film on any of her social media. Let us find out what is the feud between Olivia Wilde and Florence Pugh.

Pay Disparity Between Florence Pugh And Harry Styles
Florence Pugh has stopped any mention of Olivia Wilde in her recent interviews and limited her part in the promotion of the ‘Don’t Worry Darling‘. She praised the director’s commitment initially when she announced her involvement in the project. Wilde also commends her acting every chance she gets yet Pugh deliberately leaves the name of the director once the controversies got bigger.
Some rumors have been spread as the reason for Pugh’s change in attitude toward Wilde since her first announcement in the film. Some speculate that there might have been a pay disparity between Pugh and Harry Styles in the film. Harry Styles has gotten enough fame to have landed a role as Thanos’ brother Starfox in ‘Eternals’. This fame could be one of the reasons why Styles might have been paid three times as much as Pugh for the thriller movie.
This might be one of the possible reasons for Wilde and Pugh’s rift. Wilde addressed this rumor, she stated, “There is absolutely no validity to those claims,” and that “invented clickbait and subsequent reaction regarding a non-existent pay disparity between our lead and supporting actors really upset me.” Netizens are not believing Wilde because of her previous actions wherein she lied about Shia LaBeouf’s behavior and later got exposed.

Olivia Wilde Allegedly Supported Shia LaBeouf Over Pugh In A Dispute
It is known to the world that the child star, Shia LaBeouf had a rocky personal and professional life. His former girlfriend, FKA Twigs, accused him of abuse and charges were pressed against him. After this incident, Wilde showed her support to Twigs by sharing on her Instagram posts that LaBeouf was rude to the cast and crew on the set. She also told the press that “his process was not conducive to the ethos I demand in my productions,” while also claiming to have a “no a-holes policy.”
LaBeouf told the story from his point of view to Variety and exposed Wilde. He has already noted that he needed a lot of time for practice and Pugh was not ready to practice alongside him. So, he notified Wilde that he wanted to step down from the film because his pair was not cooperative.
He shared a video that was sent to him by the director in which she says, “This is a bit of a wake-up call for Miss Flo” while suggesting Florence Pugh was the one who needed to really commit to make the situation work. This might also be one of the main reasons why Pugh is not promoting or taking the name of the director.

Sex Scenes And Distractions On The Set That Brought In A Rift
There is a rumor that Pugh, Wilde, and Harry Styles are in a love triangle. However, any celebrities who work together are subjected to these kinds of rumors, so it might not be the reason for the rift between Wilde and Pugh. Wilde has been upfront about the details of the sex scenes in the film. She said that in the film only women’s orgasms and sex were “integral to the story itself.” This has brought in a lot of mixed opinions amongst the general audience and especially fans of Harry Styles.
Fans have gone crazy on social media posting hate comments on the actress for having a sex scene with their favorite artist in the film. So, Pugh had to stand up for herself and she did just that. She spoke against the backlash and expressed her disappointment that attention on the film has been reduced to “sex scenes, or to watch the most famous man in the world go down on someone.” If Pugh and Wilde disagreed over the importance of sex scenes in the film, then this might also be the reason for Pugh to ignore the promotion of the film.
There was also a rumor that Wilde was having an affair with Styles during the filming of DWD. A wide talk in the industry that cinematographer Matthew Libatique had to step in and help direct the film when Wilde was too distracted with her romance. This might also be the reason why Pugh chose to praise Libatique while remaining silent about Wilde’s contribution to the film.
