Taylor Swift has revealed on several platforms that she wrote her first song, ‘The Outside‘ by keeping an outcast as the central character. The song is autobiographical and expresses Taylor’s desire to fit in her school. She confessed that she wrote the song about, “the trouble” she was having at school. She added, “You know I’d go to school some days and not know if I was gonna have a conversation with anybody. I mean, I was really sort of an outcast.”
The ‘Evermore‘ singer also said that the song was the reason why she started to write songs and became a singer and songwriter: “I was at a point in my life where I realized, You know what, people haven’t always been there for me but music has.” She explained that most of the lyrics were inspired by her observation of people and the experiences they had from an outsider’s perspective.
