Who is Christine Marinoni?
Christine is a prominent LGBTQ+ rights and education activist. She has previously worked for New York’s Department of Education as a special adviser for community partnerships. Christine is a frequent presence at campaign events, marching alongside Cynthia in the New York City Pride parade or collecting signatures to secure her spot on the ballot.
Christine resigned from her job after working for years under Bill de Blasio’s administration. She even ran for governor but couldn’t win against Andrew Cuomo. Marinoni then helped in the establishment of Alliance for Quality Education, a New York-based non-profit working to ensure high-quality public education for students, in 2002.

How Did Cynthia Nixon And Christine Marinoni Meet?
Nixon and her wife met in 2001 while campaigning for an education non-profit. At the time, they were both fighting for smaller class sizes in New York’s public school system via the Alliance for Quality Education. It is an educational non-profit organization that Christine helped found. Nixon’s two children – Samuel and Charles – which she shares with her then-partner Danny Mozes were also enrolled in New York’s public school system.
They started talking as friends and bonded more during Nixon’s split from Mozes in 2003. They started dating each other in 2004. “It wasn’t something in me that was waiting to come out,” “It was like, this person is undeniable. How can I let this person walk by?” Cynthia told Advocate in 2010.
She revealed that this was her first homosexual relationship. “I have been with men all my life and had never met a woman I had fallen in love with before, But when I did, it didn’t seem so strange. It didn’t change who I am. I’m just a woman who fell in love with a woman.”
