    Born as Heather Brooke Hamilton, Heather Armstrong was raised in Bartlett, Tennessee. Her family later shifted to Salt Lake City. She was a regular person doing a corporate job;  working as a web designer for a firm in Los Angeles. However, in 2002, she was fired from her job after blogging something funny about her co-workers.

    After that, she started blogging under the pen name Dooce. The parenting blog gained over 48,000 followers on social media platforms.

    In 2009, Forbes magazine listed her their 30 most influential women in the media list. In the same year, she made an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show and in 2012, wrote a second book titled ‘Dear Daughter‘.

    On Tuesday, May 9, 2023, Armstrong died by suicide at the age of 47. Her boyfriend Pete Ashdown told the media that he found her dead at their Salt Lake City house. He said that she had a history of substance abuse.

    Pete also claimed that she recently relapsed after being sober for around 18 months. He took to Instagram to pay her last respect, calling her the “love of [his] life.” “It takes an ocean not to break,” he captioned a picture. “Hold your loved ones close and love everyone else.”

    Earlier, she opened up about her battle with depression triggered by her divorce from her husband Jon Armstrong. They share two daughters Leta Elise and Marlo Iris. “I was feeling like life was not meant to be lived,” she once said.
