Martin McDonagh is also creating ripples at every award show and critics’ review with his directorial feature ‘The Banshees Of Inisherin’. It has bagged nine nominations at the upcoming 95th Academy Awards. He won big at the Golden Globe Awards in the categories ‘Best Screenplay’ and ‘Best Director’. The film deals with two friends who fall out of friendship leading to strange circumstances. The two artistes sat down for a chat during Variety’s ‘Directors on Directors’. Why Taylor Swift Received Flak For ‘Directors On Directors’ Appearance?
In December 2022, like every year, Variety organized its annual flagship series ‘Directors on Directors’. For the 2022 edition, they invited the pop star turned-director Taylor Swift and the British playwright Martin McDonagh. The two already knew one another closely due to Phoebe Waller-Bridge. She is Martin’s girlfriend and Swift’s close friend. During the conversation, the two expressed their mutual admiration for one another.
They talked about their respective projects that were the subject of the conversation. The two mavericks also talked about why they started directing and specific questions about certain scenes in their projects.
Like Swift asked Martin about the scene when he realizes that his horse has died due to one of Colm’s acts of defiance. But, the conversation lacked depth.
