‘Wonder Woman‘ changed the outlook for the DCU and became a breakthrough movie for Gal Gadot. The movie was perfect in terms of storytelling, visuals, and a strong female superhero. Chris Pine thinks the same about the movie but was shocked when it got discontinued.
The actor admitted that he is struggling to understand why Warner Bros. canceled such a successful movie franchise, that grossed nearly $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

Chris Pine Was Stunned After Billion Dollar Franchise Of Wonder Woman Was Dis-Continued
Chris Pine was shocked to know that the Wonder Woman movie series has been discontinued. The actor recently spoke to Business Insider while promoting his feature directorial debut ‘Poolman’, the actor shared his reaction to the cancellation and he even questioned what went in the head of Warner Bros.
Pine said, “I’m stunned that they said no to a billion-dollar franchise and decided to pivot elsewhere.” he continued, “I don’t know what the reasoning was behind that; it’s above my pay grade, but Wonder Woman is an incredible character; Patty is such a thoughtful director.”
Pine starred as Steve Trevor opposite Gal Gadot‘s Wonder Woman in two Warner Bros. comic book tentpoles directed by Jenkins: 2017’s ‘Wonder Woman‘ and 2022’s ‘Wonder Woman 1984‘.
The directors were developing a third Wonder Woman movie, but as James Gunn and Peter Safran were given the command of the DCU Wonder Woman was removed from the universe.

“I Had No Interest In Playing The Boyfriend, And It Sounded Like Second Fiddle”: Chris Pine On Being Skeptical Of His Role
Chris Pine also doubted his return in ‘Wonder Woman 3′. His character might be “dead” or “gonzo” in the story. Adding to this he said, “It would be ridiculous to try to bring me back.”
Furthermore, he added that he didn’t have any interest in playing the role of boyfriend in the superhero movie. A love story in a superhero movie doesn’t seem right to him. The actor continued, “I had no interest in playing the boyfriend, and it sounded like second fiddle.” He continued, “Then, in talking to Patty, the way she described it was, ‘Forget the superhero of it all, this is a romance, this is ‘Casablanca,’ that’s the movie I want to make.”
“I was like, oh, now that is very cool because when have you seen a superhero film that was a love story, ultimately? That had nothing to do with blowing shit up,” Pine added on having a love story in the movie.
James Gunn and Peter Safran, the new heads of the DCU aren’t interested or working on Wonder Woman. They’re focusing more on the other superheroes. ‘Wonder Woman 3’ fell apart in Warner Bros. leadership and no progress has been made since then.
