Two years back, Colin Farrell portrayed Batman’s most iconic villain, The Penguin in Matt Reeve’s version of Batman. After the success of the film, it was recently announced that The Penguin will be getting its spin-off series with Colin Farrell reprising his role.
In a recent report, Colin Farrell revealed that he had to go to war against WB, so his character, The Penguin looks authentic as shown in the comics.

Colin Farrell Had To Fight Against WB So That His Character Could Smoke A Cigar
In Matt Reeves‘s ‘The Batman’, The Penguin could not satisfy his nicotine cravings. But this time, Colin Farrell went to extreme lengths to keep his character true to its source.
As per the reports, the actor did not support the banning of cigars and fought against Warner Bros. to include them in the television series. Farrell explained that The Penguin does smoke often and is usually seen with a cigar in his hand or his mouth.
The fans supported Colin Farrell’s bold move against Warner Bros and appreciated his demands over X. After Joker, The Penguin is one of the most notable villains in Gotham City.

The Studio Had Issues With The Penguin Smoking
In a recent interview with Jake’s Takes, the actor shared that he was determined to get the authentic look for The Penguin. Colin Farrell said, “Big studios make big decisions around such things as the presence of cigarettes in films. I fought valiantly for a cigar.”
He continued, “At one stage I said, I can have it unlit! Just let me have it unlit. They were like, No. [As if] a bunch of 12-year-olds are going to start smoking Cuban cigars because [the Penguin is smoking cigars in a movie.]”
The new spin-off series is all set to release this fall when the new gangster will terrorize Gotham City.
