Josh Allen is offering a humorous look into married life with Hailee Steinfeld while revealing the one habit of his that consistently gets on his wife’s nerves. The Buffalo Bills quarterback spoke about their relationship during an appearance on retired Bills center Eric Wood’s Centered on Buffalo podcast, released on May 21.
During the conversation, Allen admitted that Steinfeld has become frustrated with one recurring joke involving his beard and mustache. “Anytime she tries to, like, if I got something in my beard or my mustache and she goes to reach for it, I always, like, bark and snap,” Allen hilariously shared with Wood during the episode.
Allen explained that the reaction is something he picked up from his father while growing up, and it has since become an instinctive habit that still catches Steinfeld off guard. He explained, “It’s something my dad did, you know? We’d be little kids touching the whiskers on his face, and he’d be like argh, you know? So every time I do that, it gets her every single time, and I can’t not do it. It’s like, it’s there for the taking, and I have to take it.”

Later in the interview, Wood flipped the question back on Allen and asked whether Steinfeld had any habits that annoyed him in return. The quarterback quickly avoided saying anything negative about his wife and responded carefully. “Absolutely nothing, Eric,” Allen quickly answered with a smirk. “What are you trying to do here? What are you trying to do to me?”

The comments offered a rare public look into the couple’s marriage as they approach their first wedding anniversary on May 31. Allen and Steinfeld, who have largely kept their relationship private, recently entered another major chapter in their lives after welcoming their first child together.

The couple announced the arrival of their baby girl earlier this spring. On April 2, Steinfeld shared the news in a post published through her Substack newsletter titled “Special Delivery.”
“Our baby girl has arrived!!” Steinfeld wrote. “We’re feeling incredibly grateful and blessed and savouring these early moments. Thank you so much for the love and well wishes.”
Becoming a father has also changed the way Allen views his football career as he prepares for his ninth NFL season with Buffalo. Speaking to reporters on April 20 during the Bills’ offseason training program, Allen explained that while his competitive drive remains the same, his motivation behind it has shifted since the birth of his daughter.
“That want to win will never change,” Allen told reporters. “The why I want to do it has.” Allen said he now sees football as an opportunity to set an example for his family and show his daughter the value of hard work and commitment.
“So why I want to do it is to show my family, to show my daughter how hard you need to work in order to accomplish something so great,” he added. “And as long as I play this game, that’s going to be my mindset.”
