After playing the legendary Gus Fring in theBreaking Baduniverse, Esposito was aware of the talent he possessed. Much like his on-screen character, Stan Edgar, Esposito opened the conversation with a tongue-in-cheek warning that nearly derailed the meeting before it even began.

The actor’s bold gesture laid the groundwork for one of the most important and riveting performances in the series.

“’I just wanna remind you, you can’t afford me…I don’t f— around.’ So I started as a guest star,” he said while recounting his meeting with Kripke. While the comment may seem bold or a bit arrogant, Esposito’s experience and success in the industry at the time fully backed it up.

After starring in acclaimed shows like ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Better Call Saul,’ the actor had reached a point in his career where he had to be very selective about his roles. Ultimately, Esposito joined ‘The Boys’ as a guest actor and portrayed Stan Edgar.

The story reveals Esposito’s persona beyond his acting skills. His approach to working on a project often involves evaluating the writing and character study, which makes him one of the most sought-after actors of his generation.

When Esposito agreed to play Stan in ‘The Boys,’ the role was not initially intended to be significant enough to leave a major impression on viewers. Kripke and his team envisioned him as a recurring guest character rather than a major fixture of the series.

However, the talented actor took on the part and completely transformed it, becoming a steady presence across multiple seasons. Playing the powerful CEO of Vought, he demonstrated an almost superhuman level of authority that few others dared challenge.

Despite not always appearing as prominently as other characters, Edgar became one of the most memorable villains of the show on the back of powerful acting chops. Part of Stan’s charm lies in how different he was from the other characters in the series.

Unlike the supes who violently clashed with each other using their powers, Esposito’s Edgar relied almost solely on intelligence and control to dominate everyone around him. The character’s coolness under pressure and intimidating presence instantly became defining traits, winning over fans of ‘The Boys.’
