Before taking the television world by storm in her role as the iconic Rachel Green onFriends,’ Jennifer Aniston was just another struggling actress in Los Angeles. Cut to the present, she has earned several accolades, including a Golden Globe, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and a long list of commercially successful films, such asMarley & MeandWe’re the Millers.’

But long before she made it big in Tinseltown, Aniston starred in a project she wishes wasn’t part of her resumé. Yep, before transforming into a charismatic comedic star, the actress appeared in a notoriously awkward movie that has haunted her ever since its 1993 release.

The movie in focus is ‘Leprechaun,’ best remembered as an unhinged horror-comedy featuring Warwick Davis as a murderous green goblin obsessed with gold.

Produced on a meager $1 million budget, it earned over eight times that amount at the box office and spawned a franchise.

While fans continued to enjoy its campy nature, the movie scared Aniston so much that she feared for her budding Hollywood career.
As a struggling actress working in a tough environment, she did not even know what she was signing up for when she accepted the role of Tory Redding.

In a 2021 interview with InStyle Magazine, the actress discussed her cult movie ‘Office Space,’ saying, “No one thought it would become the cult classic that it did, but it’s pretty cool if you ask me.”

“There’s loads of movies where you’re thinking, ‘Oh god, this is just… how am I going to survive this in my future?’ And then it’s a cult…something because it’s so embarrassing,” Aniston continued.

Describing ‘Office Space’ as “special,” the actor clarified that she didn’t label the said movie as “embarrassing.” Instead, she murmured jokingly, “I was talking about Leprechaun.” As expected, this is not the first time the ‘Friends‘ star has expressed her dissatisfaction regarding the movie.

While most actors hate appearing in such projects and try their hardest to move on, it is the same qualities that make cult films interesting to others. After all, bad dialogue, an absurd plot, and dubious special effects often become their greatest strengths.

Aniston’s 1993 horror-comedy was destined to strike a chord, especially in countries such as Britain, where everything unconventional about Hollywood films is cherished and celebrated.

While Aniston cannot even think about embracing this chapter in her life, fans are happy that ‘Leprechaun’ has survived the decades without being erased from history.
