‘Friends‘ welcomed some of Hollywood’s biggest stars during its legendary 10-year run, but Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow have now revealed an unexpected truth about those high-profile appearances.
While viewers saw confident performances from names like Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Bruce Willis, and Sean Penn, many of those stars reportedly arrived on set feeling very nervous.
Why Every Movie Star Was Intimidated By ‘Friends’

During a recent Actors on Actors video, Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow came together to look back on the show’s iconic guest star cameos. Aniston revealed that even though they were some of the biggest names in Hollywood, they always felt intimidated stepping into the ‘Friends’ set.
“The movie stars that came on ‘Friends’: Brad, Bruce Willis, Julia Roberts, Isabella Rossellini—we had so many—Sean Penn. They were always nervous,” Aniston revealed. “I always found it fascinating how nervous they were.”
Kudrow suggested that the unique format of the sitcom may have been the reason behind this. Unlike a film set or traditional stage production, the set ‘Friends’ had was somewhere in the middle, and many actors weren’t used to navigating.
“It’s not theater; it’s for TV. It’s not a movie. What the hell is this?” Kudrow joked, “And I remember someone asked one time. I didn’t know how to explain it, so I said, ‘Oh, just talk louder.’”.
Aniston also realized that transitioning from movies to sitcoms would have been intimidating. No matter how big the stars were, everyone gets nervous during their first time.
Jennifer Aniston Had To Admit The Brad Pitt Episode Was Hilarious

While discussing their favorite moments on ‘Friends’, both Aniston and Kudrow landed on one of the most iconic episodes in the show’s history: Brad Pitt’s guest appearance in the Thanksgiving episode.

“What’s your favorite episode? Do you like the Thanksgiving episodes? They were really funny,” Aniston asked Kudrow during the conversation. “The Thanksgiving episode when Brad was on, that was hilarious,” Kudrow replied. And Aniston had to agree, “That was hilarious.”
Brad Pitt appeared as Will Colbert, a former high school classmate with a deep grudge against Rachel Green. Their chemistry was top-notch, and the “I Hate Rachel Club” became one of the funniest storylines of the series. The even more iconic part was that Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt were actually married when the episode aired.
The episode became a massive ratings success, becoming one of the most-watched episodes of the show. Although the couple is divorced, it can’t be denied that the episode remains beloved for both the cast and fans of ‘Friends’.
