Daniel Radcliffe spent a decade bringing Harry Potter to life on screen, but one moment from the franchise still stands out above all the others.
Years after filming the beloved fantasy series, the actor has opened up about the most frightening stunt he ever attempted, revealing how a daring scene from one of the films pushed him far beyond his comfort zone.
Daniel Radcliffe Reveals The Craziest 40-Foot Fall He Attempted

During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Radcliffe shared details about what he considers the wildest stunt of his career. The actor said the moment came while filming 2005’s ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire‘.
“They let me do the craziest stunt I was ever able to do,” Radcliffe recalled. He explained that the stunt involved a major fall from a rooftop. “It was like a 40ft fall down a roof. I was on a wire, but I was properly in free fall. It was only there to catch me at the end. And I was absolutely terrified.”
Although he agreed to take part in the stunt, Radcliffe admitted that the reality of performing it was much more frightening than he expected. Once he was standing at the top and preparing for the fall, the danger of the situation quickly became clear.
‘The Goblet Of Fire’ Scene Took Place During The Dragon Challenge

The stunt happened during one of the most memorable sequences in ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire‘. The scene took place during the first task of the Triwizard Tournament, where Harry and the other contestants must face dangerous dragons. During the action sequence, Harry is knocked off his broomstick while trying to evade the dragon.

He crashes onto a rooftop and slides down before ending up hanging from the edge of a building. Radcliffe was only 15 years old when he filmed the scene. Despite his young age, he had already spent years working closely with the stunt department, which gave the crew confidence that he could handle the challenge.
The actor explained how the stunt team encouraged him to give it a try. “I worked a lot with the stunt department by then, and they were like, ‘You can do this. Do you want to try it?’ And I said yes. But then I got up there and was absolutely terrified.”
Looking back now, Radcliffe realizes just how unusual the situation was. He recalled that the production filmed the stunt “two or three times,” giving him multiple opportunities to complete the dramatic fall.
The actor said he now understands that the circumstances surrounding the stunt were unique and would never get a chance to do such a thing. Modern productions are often much stricter when it comes to allowing young actors to perform risky sequences themselves.
