The MCU has been developing a vast, interconnected universe over the years, but not all of the stories have been given the payoff they deserve. With Marvel heading into ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars’, there are a few characters and storylines that remain in limbo.
That doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad thing. In recent years, Marvel has proven that there are stories that can lie dormant for years before they become relevant again. However, as the Multiverse Saga enters its most pivotal moments, it’s difficult not to wonder what will become of some of these loose ends.
What Comes Next? From Hulk’s Son To The Ten Rings

Skaar is one of the largest mysteries of Marvel. At the end of ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’, Bruce Banner’s son was introduced, paving the way for a bigger Hulk family story. But Marvel hasn’t announced what the next big thing will be for Skaar. With the MCU’s future Hulk plans still unclear, his storyline could easily remain on the sidelines for a while longer.

Then there’s Sharon Carter. The biggest plot twist in ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ was the revelation that she is the mysterious Power Broker. However, the repercussions of that are barely explored. What seemed like the start of a much bigger story is now one of the most obvious dangling threads in the MCU.
The Ten Rings are yet another mystery. Shang-Chi’s organization is now under Xialing’s control, while the mysterious cosmic signal discovered by Shang-Chi and Wong suggested that the rings could have connections far beyond Earth. So far, Marvel hasn’t really been able to explain where they were coming from or who or what was receiving that signal.
Some Answers May Have to Wait Until After ‘Secret Wars’

The vibranium versus adamantium battle may also be significant in the future. The battle over the two legendary metals was introduced in ‘Captain America: Brave New World’. Yet that also hasn’t become a major plot point for Marvel. This particular thread may continue into the next era of the MCU as ‘Black Panther 3’ is said to come after ‘Secret Wars’.

And then there is Mephisto. After years of fan theories, the character finally entered the MCU through Ironheart, where his deal with Riri Williams opened the door to a much larger supernatural storyline. But his ultimate plans remain unclear.
The truth is that Marvel might not have an answer to these questions before ‘Doomsday’. Some may be purposely saved for the next saga. After all, ‘Doomsday’ has a lot of characters and universes to handle, and it may be better to keep a few things a mystery.
