When it appeared that ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ had given away all its secrets, new set photos of its already-filming third season are hinting at something much more disturbing to come.
And this time, the threat may not be in the form of a conventional foe lurking in the shadows, but in the form of someone much more familiar to the world of Matt Murdock. With season 2 approaching its finale, the hero/villain dichotomy is beginning to fade in a way that is more personal than ever.
A Familiar Face May Become Daredevil’s Next Nightmare

Recent images show Margarita Levieva’s Heather Glenn stepping into a striking, unsettling look that strongly echoes the infamous Muse persona. To those who have been listening, this does not come as a surprise; it seems like the logical conclusion of her story. Heather has been falling apart for a long time.

Having survived a close-death experience with Muse in previous episodes, she is left with psychological scars that are never fully mended. She has been avoiding that trauma, instead of facing it, letting it develop in the background.
What makes this change even more painful is its humanity. This is not an abrupt turn of the heel or a twist of the shock thrown in to add value, but the gradual disintegration of a person who was not able to digest what has happened to them. And now it seems that internal conflict is becoming physical.
This Turn Will Mark A Bold Departure From The Comics

Should Heather adopt this darker identity to the fullest, it would be a big departure from the source material. She has never played a villainous role traditionally, which makes this possible change even more unpredictable. It is that unpredictability that the show could be missing.
In case you missed it: ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2 Turns Hell’s Kitchen Into A War Zone
As Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock is still engaged in the continuing war with Wilson Fisk, a threat that is based on personal connection, it brings the emotional stakes to a whole new level. It’s one thing to go against a crime lord; it’s something different to go against someone whose downfall you have seen with your own eyes.
It has a thematic weight as well that goes well with the tone of ‘Born Again’. The show has never shied away from the psychological price of violence, how it affects the victims, the survivors, and even the people who attempt to do good. Heather’s arc appears to be ready to represent such a notion in its most radical variant.
Naturally, we are yet to see how deep this change will reach and when it will be completely implemented. However, it is difficult to disregard the direction. If these early glimpses are anything to go by, season 3 isn’t just raising the stakes; it’s shifting them inward. And that might make the following episode not only larger, but also much more haunting.
