Daredevil: Born Again’ has garnered a ton of praise since it brought Matt Murdock back to the forefront, but one criticism has been rolling off fans’ lips since the series premiered: Bullseye‘s costume.

While fans were enjoying Wilson Bethel’s fiery rendition of Benjamin Poindexter, many wondered how his armored black suit would compare to the classic comic book look. Now, Marvel seems to be making amends for that.

New set photos of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ season 3 have emerged, showing that Bullseye is getting his new outfit. The iconic target logo is now more prominent throughout the suit, making the assassin look more distinct and recognizable. And it’s what many viewers were hoping for from the start.

The original costume seemed a bit earthy and almost like Marvel wasn’t sure if they could get the comic book vibe out of it. However, the studio appears to be much more comfortable with the larger-than-life persona that Bullseye became famous for in the first place, with season 3.

What’s interesting is that the new suit also seems to echo Poindexter’s emotional trajectory in his story. Bullseye was slowly changing from a vicious antagonist to a more morally complex character in ‘Born Again’ seasons 1 and 2. He’s still a menace, a wild card, a very unstable character, but the show has begun to delve deeper into him than just showing him as a one-dimensional killer.

After escaping the turmoil surrounding Matt Murdock’s fall, Poindexter was by the side of the enigmatic Mr. Charles by the end of season 2. The suit is an upgraded version of the one that was introduced in that storyline, and it feels even more official. It’s almost as if Marvel is giving Bullseye the chance to be the comic book character that everyone has been waiting to see.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 3 Looks Like Marvel’s Biggest Street-Level Event

Daredevil: Born Again’ is also getting ready for what may be its most ambitious season to date, while Bullseye is undergoing its own redesign. As Daredevil is jailed for his exposure, New York’s street-level heroes are now being called on to fill in the void.

That includes the much-anticipated return of the Defenders. It’s also announced that Daredevil’s Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Danny Rand will return in season 3, making it much more than a typical Daredevil episode.

And, just to be honest, Bullseye’s new, comic-accurate appearance is just right for that larger trend. Marvel now appears to be at ease with the weirdness, drama, and comic-book energy that fans have been hoping for these characters all along.
