Charlie Cox’s journey as Matt Murdock is heading toward a surprisingly significant ending. ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is said to be coming to a close in March 2027 with its third season, which will mark one of Marvel’s longest-running character stories.
‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 3 Could Serve A Defenders Reunion
The thing that makes this unusual is that this won’t just be the end of a Disney+ revival. When combined with Netflix’s original ‘Daredevil’ run, Cox will have played Matt Murdock across six seasons over roughly 12 years.

That makes the character a very rare exception in the MCU, as most of the Marvel heroes have been divided between movies and a few appearances on streaming platforms. Marvel appears to be making the final season count by bringing back several major characters from the original Netflix era.
Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Finn Jones’ Iron Fist and Elodie Yung’s Elektra are all expected to return. That could make Season 3 feel less like a continuation of the story and more like a goodbye to a whole branch of Marvel TV.
It’s fitting. Before Marcel started to view TV shows as an extension of the larger MCU, ‘Daredevil’ was one of Marvel’s darker, more grounded television experiments. Today, over ten years later, the character could be closing the book with many of the people who helped define that era.
Marvel’s Television Strategy Is Changing
‘Born Again’s conclusion is also part of a wider trend for Marvel Studios. ‘Wonder Man’ was cancelled and only one live-action Marvel series is currently in production, ‘VisionQuest’. That indicates that Marvel is getting more selective with the number of live-action shows it produces simultaneously.

This could mean that the studio wants to focus more on its theatrical projects. But that doesn’t mean that Marvel is giving up on television altogether. There are several new live-action projects reportedly in development, one of which is reportedly called ‘Zodiac’.
But Marvel’s TV destiny may not be in jeopardy, it may just be getting smaller and more carefully selected. However, for Daredevil, Season 3 is particularly significant. Matt Murdock might be finally seeing the end of an erathat began long before Disney+ became Marvel’s new television home.
