Just when it looked like the balance of power in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ might finally be shifting, new set photos from season 3 suggest otherwise.
Wilson Fisk, on the contrary, is not fading into the background; he is re-emerging in a manner that is somehow quieter, colder, and, perhaps, more dangerous than ever. And truthfully, that made fans a bit queasy.
Kingpin’s Transformation Could Redefine ‘Born Again’ Season 3

Matt Murdock can take Fisk down at the end of the present season, at least temporarily. However, it is not the type of victory that lingers. No neat ending, no finality. Nothing but the sense that this war is not over yet. At this point, previews of season 3 filming support that notion.

Vincent D’Onofrio returns to the set with a much different appearance, including a long white beard that makes Fisk appear more reclusive, almost ghostly. He has been spotted in New York with a lower profile, which indicates that he is adjusting and not retreating.
That is what makes this version of Kingpin so intriguing; he does not merely return with more strength in the obvious meaning of this word. He recalibrates. Brute force does not work, so he waits. Once power is seized, he devises another method of recovering it.
Kingpin’s Story Isn’t Over, It’s Just Changing

The set photos with the background information can be as informative as Fisk’s new look. The posters of the campaign of an up-and-coming political leader give some clues that the city of New York is also experiencing a change. Power vacuums are not maintained long, and the leadership of the city can be moving in a totally different direction.

However, this is the point: Fisk has always been an athlete in a storm. His influence, even when he is not in office officially, is likely to trickle down the cracks. Being either in the limelight or in the background, he is always a thorn in the flesh of the system. And as the emotional aftershock of Vanessa Fisk’s death continues to hang over him, it can be believed that his next move will not only be strategic, but also a very personal one.
Such a mixture is risky. For Daredevil, it is not a linear progression of the fight. It is getting more random, more mental. It is one thing to bring Fisk to his knees and another to have to contend with what he turns into. If these early signs are anything to go by, season 3 isn’t about closing the chapter on Kingpin. It’s about watching him transform into something even harder to stop.
