Namor’s Comic History Could Reveal ‘Avengers: Doomsday’s Biggest Surprise
The character who could potentially be the biggest betrayer in the film may not be Steve Rogers, but Namor. The ruler of Talokan has a long comic-book history of walking the line between ally and enemy, making him one of the MCU’s most unpredictable figures heading into Doomsday.

Over the decades, Doctor Doom has been paired with Namor countless times in Marvel Comics. Their alliance was not long-lasting, but the two rulers had a lot in common. They both had big ambitions, lots of pride, and a strong desire to defend their own kingdoms.
Their relationship was not a typical team-up, but a convenient one. When their purposes converged, they would work together, but one would sooner or later turn against the other. A similar dynamic could easily be used in the MCU.
Talokan and its people have always been the most important thing to Namor. Namor might opt to ally himself with Doctor Doom if the Dark Prince can save his kingdom under the sea, or if he can convince Namor that he can. It wouldn’t necessarily make him evil. It would only solidify the ethically ambiguous character audiences encountered in ‘Wakanda Forever’.
Why Namor Could Be MCU’s Biggest Wild Card
Namor’s one defining characteristic has always been his unpredictability. He can stand side by side with Earth’s heroes one minute and be off on his own the next. That complexity makes him an ideal choice for an unexpected turn in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’.

While the audience is distracted by other characters, Namor might be making decisions that will alter the entire conflict. His mastery of Talokan would also make him one of Doctor Doom’s most valuable allies, as he might need to build up his strength against Earth’s heroes with powerful armies and influential rulers.
But if Doom and Namor team up, it would probably be an unstable combination. Their comic book past demonstrates that trust is never long-lasting between them. So, it may go both ways. It’s not yet clear if Namor will join the Avengers or Doctor Doom. However, if Marvel is planning a surprise, Namor might be the one audiences should really be watching.
