With the anticipation around ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, fans are still looking for hints as to how the MCU will move forward into ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’. One of the most intriguing new ideas is that Doctor Doom may not just beat Earth’s heroes; he might change reality itself.

As of yet, Marvel Studios hasn’t officially announced the film’s story, but the rumor does give us a big picture of Doom’s ambitions. In fact, it would make the iconic villain one of the strongest storylines ever adapted from Marvel Comics and completely change the course of the MCU.

The theory is that the multiverse starts to crumble as the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and others can’t stop it. When everyone’s being destroyed, Victor von Doom allegedly takes extreme action. According to the theory, Doom is able to steal the reality-altering abilities of one of Marvel’s most powerful comic book characters, Franklin Richards.

With those powers, Doom builds a whole new universe from the remnants of dying universes rather than letting them cease to exist. That world is supposedly Battleworld, a patchwork universe of worlds that have been sewn together into one planet.

Characters from different worlds could be brought together in the same universe, leading to endless possibilities for surprising alliances, rivalries, and character meetups.

The most interesting aspect of the rumor is that the inhabitants of Battleworld might not even know that reality has been altered. Rather than recall the multiverse that existed prior to them, they could embrace Doom’s history as the only one that ever existed.

It’s very similar to one of Marvel Comics’ most famous ‘Secret Wars’ storylines, in which Doom is the near-omnipotent god of Battleworld. If Marvel Studios follows suit, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ wouldn’t just be a defeat for the heroes, it would be a victory for Doom in reshaping life.

Of course, that would leave the door open for ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, where Earth’s Mightiest Heroes would face their toughest opponent ever: a villain that controls an army, and a whole reality. At this point, it’s still a rumor, and Marvel has said little about the actual story of the film.

However, if Doom is really the creator of a new universe, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ could provide one of the most audacious conclusions the MCU has ever seen, and get viewers counting the days until ‘Secret Wars’.
