While Doctor Doom may have already been teased in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, one theory could dramatically change how we view ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. What if Victor Von Doom’s war against the multiverse begins because of a tragedy Doctor Strange himself caused?

In ‘Multiverse of Madness’, incursions were one of the most dire threats in the multiverse. When universes collide, one or more universes can be destroyed. Strange finds this out himself when he starts traveling between realities and seeing the repercussions of his actions.

The post-credit sequence of the film makes it even more interesting. Clea shows up and explains that Strange has caused an incursion, and leads him into the Dark Dimension to face the repercussions. But Marvel doesn’t specify which universe was impacted or how many lives were lost.

There’s still plenty of room for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ to tie these up with Victor Von Doom. There is one popular theory that Doom might have lost his wife and child due to an incursion. If Marvel goes this route, then Strange’s multiversal interference might be linked to the tragedy that turns Victor into one of the most dangerous villains in the MCU.

That would make Doom’s story much more personal. Instead of just wanting power or control, he can think that the multiverse is to blame for stripping all the things he loves from him.

Could Clea’s Arrival Be Part Of Doom’s Bigger Plan?

There is another alternative that can be considered. What if Clea’s showing up at the end of ‘Multiverse of Madness’ wasn’t simply to rectify Strange’s error? Could her mission somehow connect to Doom’s plans? There is no evidence at this time that Doom planned Clea’s arrival or that Strange was behind the incursion that could have caused Doom’s family tragedy.

But the link may make for an interesting arc in the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. Strange might find that his actions were the cause of the very enemy that threatens reality, and Doom might see him as a symbol of all that’s wrong with the multiverse. That would make their eventual confrontation far more personal than a simple battle between a sorcerer and a conqueror.
