Hugh Jackman’s latest answer is exactly the kind of response that makes Marvel fans even more suspicious. While he has reportedly ruled out appearing as Wolverine in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, he refused to give a straight answer about ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’.
Hugh Jackman Already Said Goodbye to Wolverine Before

When asked about a possible return, Jackman joked, “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I have no idea what you’re talking about,” before adding, “I do have an internal chip, that is not metaphorical. There’s a literal chip, and if I say the wrong thing, I get shut down.”

The reason nobody seems ready to believe Jackman’s denials is simple: we have been here before. After ‘Logan’ in 2017, Jackman made it clear that he believed his journey as Wolverine had reached its emotional ending. Then Ryan Reynolds somehow convinced him to put the claws back on for ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’.
That movie became a massive global hit, crossing the billion-dollar mark and proving there was still enormous demand for Jackman’s Wolverine. Jackman has also acknowledged that returning for the film reignited his enthusiasm for the character. So when Jackman says he is finished, Marvel fans understandably start asking: finished for how long?
‘Secret Wars’ Is the Perfect Excuse to Bring Him Back

There is also a major difference between ‘Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars’. Marvel has already confirmed that ‘Doomsday’ will bring together multiple generations of Marvel characters, including several original X-Men actors. But Jackman’s Wolverine has not been officially confirmed for either movie.

That leaves ‘Secret Wars’ as an especially tempting possibility. The multiverse gives Marvel almost unlimited ways to bring Logan back without undoing the ending of Logan or ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’. And considering ‘Secret Wars’ is expected to be the culmination of this entire multiverse storyline.
So, bringing back one of Marvel’s most recognizable legacy heroes would make perfect sense. But honestly, after watching Hugh Jackman say goodbye to Wolverine once and then return anyway, can anyone really blame fans for not believing him this time?
