In ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, Doctor Doom doesn’t just have to be one man traversing the multiverse. A tantalizing idea is that Victor von Doom might be playing with the multiverse itself, hopping from alternate versions of himself, and controlling their lives from the shadows.
If true, those mysterious scenes featuring different Doom costumes could mean far more than Marvel simply giving the character multiple looks.
Doom Might Be Using Loki’s Time-Slipping

One of the largest hints is the bizarre sequence in which Doom is tossed through a window and seems to fly unnaturally through the air before hitting the ground. The moves are the first things that come to mind when thinking of Loki’s time-slipping in Loki.

Doom could be using a similar power to switch between alternate versions of himself. That would account for the various costumes and situations that Doom finds himself in during the film. They may not be various phases of the same Victor. These may well be distinct variants.
Imagine Doom finding a version of himself who is about to lose a crucial battle, then taking control of that body and changing the outcome. Suddenly, every alternate Doom becomes another weapon in his arsenal. That’s a really scary thought. There could be an entire army of Dooms.
There Could Be An Entire Army of Dooms

The statement “He used to be different” by Sue might imply that the Doom in front of her is not the same one she remembers. Similarly, Reed said, “Victor, did you do this?” could hint that something happened to the person he once knew. Then there’s Loki’s throne.

If Doom has taken control of the throne that once allowed Loki to oversee the branching timelines, he could potentially have an unprecedented view of the multiverse. From there, Doom wouldn’t have to go anywhere physically.
He could identify important moments and insert himself into the versions of himself that matter. It would be even more dangerous than a Doom army, anyway. Each variant could be a single mind. In that scenario, the different Dooms aren’t simply alternate characters.
They’re pieces of a single strategy. And that brings up a very frightening idea for the Avengers: they’re not just battling one Doctor Doom. They’re fighting an entire network of him.
