Since then, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) have been hoping for RDJ’s return, even though the actor has been denying it time and again.
However, new reports and sources have been suggesting that MCU is planning to bring back Robert Downer Jr. in not one but two films. However, we can’t be sure as of yet as there hasn’t been any official news so far.

MCU Source, a reliable tweeter handle citing news of the Marvel Universe recently tweeted that MCU is planning to bring back Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man in its upcoming films ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty‘ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars‘. This has been the first news of Iron Man’s comeback after his death in ‘Avengers: Endgame‘ while fighting against Thanos. There haven’t been any updates other than this, however, it has been enough to bring a glimmer of hope among its fans.
As per Indiatimes, the birth of speculations took place after a poster tweeted from the handle of an MCU Source went viral on Social Media. The poster read, “RUMOR: Disney is planning to get back Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man in the #Avengers: THE KANG DYNASTY and Avengers: SECRET WARS!“
Why Has The Revamp Of The MCU Been Criticized By Fans?
After the ending of Robert Downey Jr.’s character in the last movie ‘Endgame‘, the franchise has been doing big experiments. They’ve been bringing in new characters and things to compete with the legacy that Infinity Saga left behind. However, the revamp of the MCU has been receiving criticism from many. One of the main reasons behind it could be the absence of a father/leading figure that was played by Iron Man.
Meanwhile, in a recent episode of ‘The Joe Rogan Experience Podcast‘, Robert Downey Jr. was seen denying any chances of being back as Iron Man. While talking about his comeback, RDJ went on to say, “I feel like I’ve done all I could with the character.” However, he also added, “There would have to be a super compelling argument and a series of events that made it obvious. But the thing is, I wanna do other stuff,” thereby not totally drowning the possibility of his comeback.
