Professor X could be facing one of the most emotional deaths in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. A new rumor claims Charles Xavier will enter Sentry‘s mind to rescue Bob Reynolds from the Void’s control, ultimately sacrificing himself in the process.

While this remains unconfirmed, the idea has a surprisingly strong connection to Marvel Comics.

According to the rumor, Sentry becomes increasingly dangerous as the Void takes control of him, forcing Professor X to attempt something extremely risky: entering Bob’s mind and reaching the person underneath the terrifying power. That would make Xavier’s death more than just another shocking casualty.

Charles would essentially sacrifice himself to save someone whose own mind has become a battlefield. The connection makes sense because Professor X’s greatest weapon isn’t physical strength; it’s his telepathy.

Marvel has long portrayed him as one of the world’s most powerful and experienced minds, making him one of the few characters who could potentially confront Sentry on a psychological level. And Sentry’s comic history makes the situation even more dangerous.

In the comics, Sentry and the Void are deeply connected. The Void is essentially the dark side of Robert Reynolds, with Marvel describing the character as an enormously powerful being whose existence is tied directly to Sentry.  That relationship has caused some horrifying consequences.

During the Dark Avengers era and the Siege storyline, Sentry completely loses control to the Void, eventually killing Ares and helping bring Asgard crashing down. That’s why a Professor X versus the Void storyline could be particularly interesting.

Xavier wouldn’t necessarily be trying to overpower Sentry. He would be trying to save the man trapped inside him. Interestingly, Marvel has also previously explored a connection between Professor X and Sentry in the comics, including The Sentry/X-Men and Sentry vs. the Void.

If ‘Doomsday’ actually follows this rumored path, Xavier’s death could give the returning X-Men their most devastating moment. And considering Patrick Stewart has already portrayed Charles as someone willing to sacrifice himself for others, it would be a heartbreaking but fitting final chapter for the character.
