Adding another very bright feather to Marvel’s cap are the Russo brothers, who are reportedly set to helm the fifth installment of ‘Avengers‘.
As Marvel Studios is getting ready for its big Hall H presentation at next week’s Comic-Con, some sources have confirmed that Joe and Anthony Russo, the studio’s top-grossing directing duo, are set for a grand return. Here’s what fans can expect the genius duo to bring to the screen as part of MCU.
Russo Brothers Are Set To Direct Next Installment Of ‘Avengers’
As reported by Deadline, the Russo Brothers are set to return with a series of blockbuster films under Marvel’s banner. Their first task would be to direct the upcoming ‘Avengers’ sequels, ‘Avengers 5‘ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars‘. Talks are in the early stages, but the plan is for the Russos to helm both films.
The news of the Russos’ potential involvement was first reported by Jeff Sneider on the Hot Mic podcast, sparking widespread anticipation for what’s to come in the Marvel universe. He also at the time suggested that though they are willing to direct the future films, some budget constraints from the studio’s end are coming in the way. However, the reports now suggesting the same indicate that it is a fair possibility.
Though the rumors are rife, neither Marvel Studios nor Russo Brothers have confirmed anything. The move, however, makes perfect sense. Given the recent performance of its films, Marvel is in dire need of getting back into the game. The next ‘Avengers’ installment would be highly crucial for setting up the future of Marvel and the studio needs directors of the highest caliber.

Shawn Levy Was Reported To Be A Strong Contender For The Director’s Chair
Earlier in May, reports suggested that Shawn Levy was a strong contender to take up the role of a director for the next installment of ‘Avengers‘. But sources say Levy is busy with other projects, including a new ‘Star Wars’ film at Lucasfilm.
Leaving him, the Russo brothers seem like just a natural fit for the ‘Avengers’ sequels. They have previously directed four of Marvel’s biggest hits, including the record-breaking ‘Avengers: Endgame’. Since their Marvel days, they’ve continued to deliver blockbuster successes like last summer’s ‘The Gray Man’ and the highly anticipated upcoming Netflix film ‘Electric State’ wherein they worked with ‘Avengers’ star Chris Pratt.
