There is no lack of strong villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, Doctor Doom is proving to be something much more threatening, someone who does not merely conquer worlds but recreates them.
And if the Multiverse is indeed suspended on a thread leading to ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, there is one character that is at the very center of it all: Loki.
Loki Isn’t Just Powerful, He Is Essential

Following the events of ‘Loki’ Season 2, the character of Loki took a dramatic turn and became much more mythic than a trickster. He did not merely save timelines by accepting his position as the God of Stories; he was the glue that kept them together. All the alternative realities exist because Loki decided to sit in the middle of it all by himself.

There is a price to that power. Loki is no longer fighting battles; he is silently bearing them. No reunions, no redemption arcs, no second chances with people like Thor or his allies. It is a solitary throne, and that solitude renders him weak in a manner that brute strength never could. And that is where Doom comes in.
Doctor Doom Might Take Advantage Of Loki’s Throne

Doctor Doom is cold and precise, unlike Thanos, who sought balance by destroying. He does not simply remove barriers; he uses them. In Marvel Comics, particularly in ‘Secret Wars’, Doom rewrites reality itself, having acquired inconceivable power. So consider that attitude towards the MCU.

If Doom finds out that Loki is actually the living pillar of the Multiverse, it would be the most obvious action to kill him, but not the most intelligent one. Control is a more chilling possibility. It would be much more efficient and much more unsettling to take Loki and twist his power and use it to rewrite history.
Something sad about that thought: Loki, who has finally discovered meaning in sacrifice, may turn out to be the very thing that destroys all that he was trying to save. It is not only a physical threat, but also emotional destruction. And, Marvel knows how to strike that nerve. In one way or another, when these two forces collide, the Multiverse will not emerge the same, and neither will Loki.
