Marvel‘s ‘Fantastic Four‘ had a hard time being fully adopted into the franchise. All three movies of the Fantastic Four series have combined Rotten Tomatoes of 75%. So hopes for the next part to rise above the bar is concerning.
Paul Walter Hauser was nervous about joining the Marvel Universe due to the bad past of the movie series. Hauser’s part is yet to be revealed but he almost turned it down because he was nervous about joining the MCU.
Paul Gave Some Extra Thought Before Joining MCU
During a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Paul revealed that due to the bad adaptations of the Marvel Super-Hero films, he was a bit hesitant to join Matt Shakman’s ‘Fantastic Four.‘
He stated during the interview, “Don’t think that didn’t weigh in as I was deciding whether or not to take the job.” He continued, “That movie has not fully been nailed just yet”. But after seeing the list of his fellow cast members and the screenplay with an amazing storyline, Paul feels the movie is going to be special.
The Emmy winner actor continued, “But I do think the combination of the screenplay, and the department heads that are working on the film, and that classy cast of really exciting actors. Some of them known for a long time, and some of them having a moment right now — [make me feel that] this movie is special, and it was something I wanted to be a part of,” he added.

Paul Walter Hauser also discussed that he and Matt Shakman met at a dinner to discuss his role in the movie. They both have also worked together previously in ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia‘, hence it was good for Hauser to collaborate with the director again.
He added, “To come back together and collaborate on this movie in some capacity, it’s really exciting. I’m excited to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.” Furthermore, the movie features Pedro Pascal (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing).
Previously during a Screen Rant interview, Paul teased a few things about his role. Though he didn’t completely reveal what that role is going to be, the actor mentioned, “I can’t say anything about the character I’m playing, but know that it is in the sort of lexicon and mythology of The Fantastic Four stories. And it’s a very distinct character that I’m excited to play and I’m kind of mapping out what I’m doing with that right now.“
‘Fantastic Four‘ is all set to arrive on 25 July 2025.
