Russo Brothers Confirm ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ Progress As Marvel’s Finale Nears

Marvel Studios’ biggest film event is finally getting closer to reality. The Russo brothers have given a big update on ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, announcing that the much-anticipated crossover is getting ready to go into production while ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is still in the works. 

With their new remarks, fans can get a taste of what’s to come in Marvel’s Multiverse Saga as it nears its epic finale.

Talking to Deadline, directors Anthony and Joe Russo said that ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ is in the thick of pre-production. The filmmaking duo is currently working on ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. However, they are already preparing for Marvel’s next big ensemble adventure.

We are doing some work still on Doomsday and will be until probably they rip it out of our hands in November, and that just means they have to give it to other people, to finish it for a few weeks.” The brothers say they hope to get into principal photography this summer for ‘Secret Wars’. 

It’s a significant achievement for a movie that is a huge event in the MCU’s future. The update also shows just how big a deal Marvel’s plans are. It’s an exciting sign for fans of Marvel, as the studio’s biggest story yet is slowly taking shape. ‘Secret Wars’ is finally coming to fruition behind the scenes after years of multiversal teases, alternate realities, and universe-shattering events.

The Russos also spoke about what’s next for Marvel after ‘Secret Wars’. They didn’t say they couldn’t collaborate again, but the directors emphasized that they are currently working on a full story for ‘Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars’. According to them, the two films are one big story, culminating their vision for the Multiverse Saga.

The stories that we’re focused on now are complete. Doomsday and Secret Wars speak with one another as two films, and they form a complete expression. Whether or not we all collaborate with Marvel beyond that is certainly a possibility, but right now, the vision, the narrative vision is just for Secret Wars.”

It is still uncertain if they will come back later. With the ever-expanding cast, Marvel is still holding onto its surprises. Fans have been discussing characters like Spider-Man and Vision. However, they haven’t been confirmed on what their role will be in the film.

Avengers: Secret Wars’ isn’t just a possibility anymore, as cameras are now set to roll and Marvel’s biggest stars are gathering once again. The journey towards the end of the Multiverse Saga has officially begun, and it’s becoming more thrilling by the minute.
