With ‘House of the Dragon’ now in its much-anticipated third season, the relationship between Rhaenyra Targaryen and Daemon Targaryen seems to be growing deeper.
However, showrunner Ryan Condal says that the unity might have a price, as the Targaryen Civil War heats up.
Daemon’s Faith In Rhaenyra Reaches A New Level
Recently, Condal teased that Daemon has fully committed himself to Rhaenyra’s claim, saying that she was always meant to rule. “Daemon believes with every fiber of his being that it was Rhaenyra who was always meant to take the throne, and he will stop at nothing to see it happen. For Rhaenyra, the question will be, “How ‘Daemon’ am I willing to become in the pursuit of my goal?”

Following the events of Season 2, the rogue prince no longer cares about his own desires, but only about getting Rhaenyra to the throne, no matter what happens. Daemon and Rhaenyra’s romance has been passionate, ambitious, and sometimes contentious throughout the series.
In Season 3, however, it seems like it will be a different story, as Daemon will be one of Rhaenyra’s most vocal supporters. Now, Daemon firmly thinks “with every fiber of his being” that Rhaenyra is the rightful queen of Westeros. It may make him more lethal than ever, particularly as the civil war dubbed the Dance of the Dragons becomes more and more vicious.
Daemon’s only goal is to win. He is not one to hesitate in crossing moral boundaries, and his loyalty is unwavering, which could lead him to do even more extreme things in the name of Rhaenyra’s cause.
Rhaenyra Faces A Difficult Choice In ‘House Of The Dragon’ Season 3
It appears Daemon is dedicated to the cause, but maybe it’s Season 3 that’s going to focus more on Rhaenyra’s internal battle. One of the big questions for the queen is how far she will go to get what she wants.

As losses mount and enemies close in, Rhaenyra could find herself tempted to embrace some of Daemon’s ruthless methods. The challenge will be to balance her need for justice and legitimacy with the brutalities of war.
The conundrum may be one of the most interesting storylines in Season 3. Rhaenyra has always sought to set herself apart from the more violent personalities that surround her. However, the struggle for the Iron Throne doesn’t always pay for being cool.
‘House of the Dragon’ Season 3 looks set to take both Daemon and Rhaenyra to the next level, as both are prepared to do whatever it takes, and Rhaenyra is faced with more and more difficult choices. They have the same objective, but may end up changing forever how they get there.
