    Who Are The Midnight Sons?

Midnight Sons are a team of nine superheroes with ties to the occult brought together to battle Mother of Demons – Lilith and her children, the Lilin by Doctor Strange. Lilith freed herself from the belly of an ancient ghost known as the Leviathan and set on a mission to rip open the walls between the dimensions of Earth and the one where her children lived. Seeing this, Strange began manipulating certain heroes who could stop Lilin from ripping apart the entire planet of Earth.

The Midnight Sons included Ghost Rider (Daniel Ketch), Johnny Blaze, Morbius (a pseudo vampire), the Nightstalkers – a group of mystic hunting heroes composed of Blade, Frank Drake, and Hannibal King, and the Darkhold Redeemers (Louise Hastings, Victoria Montesi and Sam Buchanan). They were on a quest to destroy the ancient evil tome known as the Darkhold and its physical embodiment, the Dwarf.

Upon becoming aware of Strange’s plans, Lilith attempted to break up the Sons even before they fully came together. She did so by poisoning Morbius which made him prone to her control and tricked the Nightstalkers into attacking the Ghost Rider. Despite all this, the Midnight Sons came together and temporarily defeated Lilith. The Sons continued to fight Lilith as she allied first with the Soulless Man, Centurious, and then with the powerful demon, Zarathos. During these various battles, the Sons faced internal differences as Blade turned against the Nightstalkers and Morbius clashed with them. The group as a whole also did not trust Doctor Strange due to his several lies and deceitful manipulations. The Sons faced Zarathos and Lilith in a battle where they destroyed Zarathos but Lilith managed to escape with her unborn child. Shortly after this, the Midnight Sons became involved in their own affairs and eventually drifted apart.

When Will They Make Their Debut In The MCU?

Marvel Studios is gearing up to introduce one of the members of the Midnight Sons, Blade, by 2023. Not a lot is known about MCU’s latest addition but it is believed that Blade’s arrival in the MCU will eventually lead to the debut of the Midnight Sons within the Marvel Universe. Apart from this, a video game featuring a version of the Midnight Sons is also ready for release.

While in the comics, the Sons are led by none other than Doctor Strange, it is quite possible that the same won’t happen in the MCU. This is because in the post-credit scene of ‘Multiverse of Madness’ Strange can be seen entering the Dark Dimension alongside Clea. With a new crisis awaiting the former Sorcerer Supreme, it seems unlikely that Strange will be the one to lead the Midnight Sons.

A lot of speculations and theories surround the introductions of the Midnight Sons in the MCU and few of them attempt to guess who will be the one leading the Midnight Sons. It’s only a matter of time before fans find out what Marvel Studios has planned for this band of superheroes.
