Since the end of Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Cinematic Studious has started working on its next phase. Disney+ released numerous spin-off series starting with ‘WandaVision,’ ‘Loki,’ ‘Hawkeye,’ and ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’. Many new Marvel characters were introduced to build, what we can only assume, is another large ‘marvelous’ story canvas. Out of the many characters who made their Marvel debut, is the super Agatha Harkness.
Agatha, played by Kathryn Hahn, was first seen on-screen in the ‘WandaVision’ series. In an outburst of grief, Wanda took control of a town and made ‘Westview’ into her own personal drama sitcom dollhouse. However, not everybody in the town was under her Hex. Origin And History
Agatha Harkness from WandaVision is based on the Marvel Comic character of the same name. However, this super has different experiences on screen and the graphic pages. Agatha is one of the original witches from the Salem trials. She made her first appearance in the ‘Fantastic Four’ comics a different universe from the Avengers. In that universe, Agatha was the Scarlet Witch’s friend and taught her magic.
In the Fantastic Four universe, she was killed and burnt at the stake but maintained her presence in astral form and later even came back to life. Agatha has been a friend in need to Wanda over the course of her tumultuous life. She even helped the Avengers in the future to defeat Immortus, a timekeeper agent.
Agatha has a son Nicholas Scratch who is a Marvel supervillain. He along with his children, Salem’s Seven, tries to kill Agatha for joining forces with the Fantastic Four. But is defeated by her and banished to another dimension. Agatha is later killed by the Salem Seven, her own grandchildren. Agatha also appears in the Daughters of Liberty, as the teacher of the recruits.
In the comics, Agatha has been a true friend in need of Wanda, unlike the series. Though we never know what to expect from Marvel as Wanda becomes the villain in ‘Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness’. Perhaps in future installations, we might see the two witches as friends. Marvel has announced a spin-off series of the witch, ‘Agatha: House of Harkness’.

Is She More Powerful Than Wanda?
In the WandaVision series, Agatha in the guise of Agnes, the nosy neighbor, was conspiring to extract Wanda’s chaos magic. In the final episode, she kidnaps Wanda’s twins. She even beat Wanda’s mind spell and almost drains the Scarlett Witch of her magic.
However in the climax, when Agatha and the Scarlet Witch have their face-off, Wanda by using runes on the Westview energy shield overpowers Agatha and excises her powers instead. While Agatha put up a good fight against Wanda, she was defeated by the Scarlet Witch.
The Scarlet Witch is the most powerful superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Agatha tells Wanda that she has chaos magic and hence is the Scarlet Witch from the Darkhold prophecy. Scarlet Witch in the MCU is destined to either rule the world or destroy it.
