Monica Rambeau is a Marvel comic book character who has gone by multiple superhero aliases in the comics. Teyonah Parris portrays the adult version of Rambeau in ‘WandaVision’ (2021) and will also appear in ‘The Marvels’ (2023). Her first alias was Captain Marvel, even before Carol Danvers. However, she later gets a new superhero alias, Photon. After that, she gets Spectrum, but now fans may finally know what name she’ll use in ‘The Marvels‘.
Throughout her history, Rambeau was part of various superhero teams like Avengers, Strikeforce, Ultimates, and many others. Another good news for fans is that Rambeau will finally have her own solo comic series just in time for ‘The Marvels’. Who Is Monica Rambeau?
Monica Rambeau is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. She was introduced as the second Captain Marvel. She gained superpowers after being bombarded by extradimensional energy produced by an energy disruptor weapon. Monica became the leader of the Avengers for some time. She has also been known as Photon, Pulsar, and beginning in 2013, Spectrum.
During a chat with Marvel Entertainment at the 2022 D23 Fan Expo, Teyonah Parris confirmed that Monica Rambeau will have the power of flight in ‘The Marvels‘. “A Black female superhero on the screen,” Parris teased that Monica will be able to fly as she realizes more about her superpowers. “Being able to fully realize Monica’s powers and flying, and it’s like, ‘Oh my gosh, we have a Black female superhero on the screen with these other amazing female superheroes.’ So, it’s just like, ‘Oooh, woman power!’ And being led by an amazing woman, so yeah, that was my favorite part. Girl power,” she added.

Her Alias And Powers
Monica has appeared in at least half a dozen superhero avatars in Marvel. Aside from Captain Marvel, Rambeau’s second most commonly used superhero alias was Spectrum, not Photon, which she only used for a short while. A lot of fans assumed by looking at the emblem used in ‘The Marvels‘ logo speculated that she would be going by Spectrum. It is also her current alias in the comics. But, A new announcement from Marvel implies that she might go by the name “Photon” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Monica’s notable aliases throughout the comics are mainly Captain Marvel, Photon, Pulsar, Daystar, Sceptre, Lady of Light, Monica Marvel, Sun Goddess, and Spectrum.
In terms of power, she has a lot of potential. Rambeau can transform herself into any form of energy within the electromagnetic spectrum. She can easily control visible light, cosmic rays, gamma rays, X-rays, ultraviolet radiation, electricity, infrared radiation, microwaves, radio waves, and neutrinos. Monica mentally controls both the type and quantity of energy she wishes to transmit. She is immortal and does not age beyond her prime. She also possesses the ability to split her energy form into several miniature energy forms that are under her mental command.
