The Right-wing Opposes ‘Barbie’
Debates about ‘Barbie’ have been going on even before the film’s release. Now that the movie has gained such widespread love and popularity from movie buffs all over the world, the right-wing hate continues.
The right-wing outrage regarding ‘Barbie‘ has even led to the burning of Barbie and Ken dolls. Ben Shapiro, founder of Daily Wire claims that he was dragged to the movie unwillingly. And he opened his 43-minute review video by burning Barbie and Ken dolls.
That’s not all, Ginger Gaetz, the wife of Rep. Matt Gaetz had a similar reaction to the movie. She criticized the movie for neglecting “to address any notion of faith or family,” and “disappointingly low T”. She meant testosterone by T. And further added that Ryan Gosling’s Ken had “beta energy”.

How Did Greta Gerwig React To The Hate?
Director Greta Gerwig has been shot into the limelight as ‘Barbie‘ has become the biggest film of 2023. And she did not expect the right-wing outrage surrounding her film. She addressed the situation in her interview with The New York Times.
“Certainly, there’s a lot of passion. My hope for the movie is that it’s an invitation for everybody to be part of the party and let go of the things that aren’t necessarily serving us as either women or men,” said Gerwig. She continued, “I hope that in all of that passion, if they see it or engage with it, it can give them some of the relief that it gave other people.”
Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has supported Gerwig and her movie. She wrote, “Love how Republican Congressmen are just now hating on Barbie because she’s ‘too woke’ …like hello this was a doll made for little girls who was a DOCTOR and an ASTRONAUT before women in the US were even allowed to have credit cards without their husband’s permission. Of course they’re mad! They want the old days back.”
