Former ‘Scream VII’ Director Christopher Landon Bags Another Horror Film Project. Here Are All The Details

The ‘Scream’ franchise has been through turmoil as the film’s seventh installment is hanging on a thread after major actors are out of the franchise. It all started when Melissa Barrera was fired from the franchise for speaking out for her support for Palestine, where she called Gaza “a concentration camp”. Later, Jenna Ortega left the franchise due to date issues.

While the major actors who revived the franchise for good left, the director, Christopher Landon, also left the film. He was amazed after Melissa was fired from the franchise. However, the director, in a statement, wrote that he left the franchise weeks before the drama began. Now, the director is back directing another horror feature, ‘Big Bad’, an adaptation of a short story.

After exiting ‘Scream VII’, Christopher Landon is already roped in for a werewolf thriller titled ‘Big Bad’. Christopher will be directing Lionsgate’s horror adaptation of Chandler Baker’s short story.

The story revolves around a family getting stuck in a nightmare situation in a farmhouse with the fear of werewolves around them. Along with Hidden Pictures, Todd Lieberman will be producing the film.

The new announcement comes after Christopher Landon officially announced his exit from the seventh installment of ‘Scream’. He announced his exit on Twitter, aka X, writing, “I guess now is as good a time as any to announce I formally exited ‘Scream 7’ weeks ago.”

He added,“This will disappoint some and delight others. It was a dream job that turned into a nightmare. And my heart did break for everyone involved. Everyone. But it’s time to move on.”

Christopher continued, “I have nothing more to add to the conversation other than I hope Wes’ legacy thrives and lifts above the din of a divided world. What he and Kevin created is something amazing and I was honored to have even the briefest moment basking in their glow.”

After featuring in the five installments of the ‘Scream’ franchise, Neve Campbell decided to walk out of the sixth installment due to pay disparity. The actress, in her statement, said that she was not getting pay that equates to the value that she has brought to the franchise.

Now, during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter at the BAFTA’s Tea Party, she talked about whether she would make a comeback to the franchise. She said, “I know things are spinning at the moment, and I would imagine they are spinning at the top trying to figure out what they’re going to do. I would not be surprised to get a call.”

Neve Campbell continued, “Would I do it? There are millions of fans out there of this franchise. These movies mean a lot to people. They mean a lot to me. They mean a lot to [Kevin Williamson].”

She added, “They meant a lot to [Wes Craven]. They meant a lot to all of these castmembers, and we would all love to see this franchise continue. I would hate to see it burn. So, we’ll see.”
