    DeGeneres, the face of the show, became the target of public scrutiny. In her stand-up routine, DeGeneres acknowledges the “hurtful” nature of the criticism. Additionally, She spoke about the blow to her ego, of feeling confused by the sudden shift in public perception. “I got kicked out of show business. There’s no mean people in show business,” she said.

    DeGeneres also took responsibility for her actions and acknowledged where the accusers were coming from. “I’m in a position of privilege and power and I take responsibility for what happens at my show,” she said.
