“Monogamy Is A Utopia”: Shakira Talks About Love, Loyalty And Her Mission To Raise Her Sons As Honest Men

Hips Don’t Lie’ singer Shakira is enjoying her single life more than anyone else. She separated from her partner Gerard Piqué with whom she is now co-parenting two children. The world seemed perfect to her when she was with Piqué. Recently in an interview, Shakira discussed how she had to make a lot of sacrifices in her relationship so that he could Gerard out his dreams.

Shakira was in love but destiny had some different plans. But the singer is not taking it as a vulnerability, she is rather embracing it and is constantly trying to raise her two sons like gentlemen and continuing to inspire people through her music.

Shakira sacrificed much for love but as she is now sane and aware of her goals, she wants her children to be the best version of themselves. During an interview with Marie Claire, the singer talked about the challenges she faced while creating her new album. The album is very close to her heart and it’s a kind of experience that will fulfill the desires of people. Moreover, it would empower people, particularly women.

Shakira admitted, “Deep down, I always thought having a husband was the most important thing in my life.” The singer continued, “I was in search for that man like my dad, who I’d have kids with and then make plans to be with forever – like my parents, who are still so in love. I made many sacrifices for this. I was loyal. But sometimes things don’t go as planned. You move on.”

Moreover, she talked about how it felt like a three-legged table after the split from her husband but she still continues to tackle everything that comes her way. Being a good mother as she is, she tries to inculcate the values of loyalty and honesty in young boys.

Shakira added, “I’ve made it my own personal objective to raise loyal boys, honest men. I want them to be men of their word. In today’s world, a person’s word is often worthless. People over-promise and under-deliver. And I want my kids to be exactly the opposite.”

When the singer was asked about love, she wasn’t ready enough to answer the question but was sure that true love still exists. ‘Waka Waka’ singer, talked about how her parents still love each other even after 50 years of marriage and they both raised her standards in love. They both still love each other and hold hands like the first time.

Shakira agrees that she did witness love but wasn’t lucky enough to cherish it for life. She continues, “Monogamy is a utopia. But I’ve been compensated in other ways, with the love of my fans and my children and true friends”.

The singer agrees that her relationship did last for 12 years but her friends and family are forever. Shakira with a positive mindset wants to set an example of an empowered woman for her children, and the people around her and continue to be the source of inspiration. She concluded on a positive note by saying: “Stand up for yourself, know your worth, and never let anyone diminish your spirit.”
