James Cameron successfully created nostalgia after a decade with ‘Avatar: The Way of Water.’ It was the most anticipated film of 2022, and Cameron helped revive the box office post-pandemic. The sequel to ‘Avatar’ grossed $2.3 billion+ at the global box office, making it the third highest-grossing film.
Cameron announced three more sequels to the film this decade. However, in recent news, Disney has overhauled the release dates of the sequels to one of the most bankable franchises. The fandom for the franchise is ready to wait the entire decade to experience the magic of the Na’vi world again, but the actress Zoe Saldaña is already worried about getting older as the fifth installment of the franchise gets on the floor.

Zoe Saldaña Is Shocked To Know About The Delay Of The ‘Avatar’ Sequels
After 13 years, during the CinemaCon in April 2022, the audience present in the theater witnessed the Na’vi World and had nothing but good things to say. From that point on, in December 2022, the global audience immersed themselves in the enthralling spectacle of Pandora’s world, giving the sequel the same love as they did to the first one. Since the sequel received a thunderous response, Disney and James Cameron have announced three more sequels to ‘Avatar.’
Unfortunately, there is a bump in the road for the fandom of ‘Avatar.’ The sequels are getting much more delayed than their original time. The third installment was to be released in 2024, but it will now be released on December 19, 2025. ‘Avatar 4’ will be released in December 2029, and the fifth installment is slated to release in December 2031.
The delay in the installments has shocked one of the cast members of the franchise. Zoe Saldaña has played Neytiri in the franchise, and she is worried about getting older until the last installment comes out. The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actress took to Instagram to express her shock humorously. She wrote, “Great! I’m going to be 53 when the last ‘Avatar’ comes out. I was 27 when I shot the very first ‘Avatar.’ “

The Actress Felt Stuck Working In Franchises
Zoe Saldaña is the queen of franchises. She became one of the highest-paying and most successful actresses of our time after reprising her roles in the franchises. Zoe has worked in Marvel Studios’ ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ as Gamora; she made a mark as a commercially viable actress in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ as Anamaria. She has also starred in franchises like ‘Avengers’ and ‘Star Trek’ apart from ‘Avatar.’
But Zoe Saldaña felt stuck after working for franchises as it made her creatively restrictive. During an interview with Women’s Wear Daily, she said, “I feel that for the last 10 years of my life, I’ve been just stuck. I felt stuck doing these franchises. I’m very grateful for the opportunities that they provided, from collaborating with amazing directors and getting to meet cast members that I consider friends and getting to play a role that fans, especially children, love.”
Zoe continued, “But it also meant that I felt artistically stuck in my craft of not being able to expand or grow or challenge myself by playing different sorts of genres and different roles.”
