‘John Wick: Chapter 4‘ was considered to be the last film in the John Wick franchise before the release of the movie. People expected that Reeves would retire the character of Baby Yaga after the fourth film. But after the massive success of the fourth film, both the studio as well as the actors involved are open to returning in the future. Nothing is set in stone as of yet for the future. But the writers can write around the end to bring back the character for a future film.
The production house behind the movies, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group has now revealed that the success of the latest installment has made the fifth film more plausible. The chairman of the group said, “There’s a will and there’s an openness. And you could certainly interpret that ending in different ways. We’re all going to take a tiny rest here and then scratch at ideas about whether there’s a credible way to get into five. But there’s no guarantee.”
Even the lead actor Keanu Reeves has expressed that he would be okay to return for another movie. Though he did say to a publication that he would only return if director Chad Stahelski is involved with the project. Reeves said, “I don’t know, I guess I’m going to have to lean on never say never. I mean, I wouldn’t do a John Wick film without Chad Stahelski. We’d have to see what that looked like. For me, it feels really right that John Wick finds peace.”

The fourth installment in the John Wick series has proven to be both critically as well as commercially successful. If the fifth movie gets planned, the writer will have to find a way around Chapter 4 end. The movie ends with Wick finally getting free from High Table. After his fight with Caine at the end, Wick dies and is buried beside his dead wife. There are loopholes that the writers can exploit. Therefore, it will be interesting to see how they chose to revive the character after the success of Chapter 4.
Even though the next chapter of John Wick hasn’t been confirmed yet, Reeves will be returning to play Wick in the spin-off movie ‘Ballerina‘.
