As fans are always eager about a sequel, it’s not often that we find the same for directors and actors as well. But in this case, it seems like the fans are in luck!

While speaking to Empire ahead of the release of his latest film The Instigators, Liman confirmed that the ‘Edge Of Tomorrow‘ sequel isn’t dead yet. “No, we keep talking about it,” he said while referring to himself and his leading star Tom Cruise, adding, “We love that world.”

The director continued, “Tom and I just actually rewatched it about two months ago, because I hadn’t seen it in 10 years. I was like, ‘Wow, that is a really good movie.’”

The 2014 movie, which stars Cruise as a soldier reliving the same day over and over and trying to stop an extraterrestrial invasion from eradicating humanity, was based on the novel ‘All You Need Is Kill’ by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. Earning $370 million at the box office globally, the film showed itself to be a timeless watch for action movie enthusiasts.

In 2019, Warner Bros. Announced that they were officially developing an ‘Edge of Tomorrow 2,’ but no more updates have surfaced since. However, recently it was revealed that Tom Cruise signed a deal with Warner Bros. to develop movies, which has led many fans to wonder if that will include a sequel.

The female lead of ‘Edge Of Tomorrow’, Emily Blunt appeared on the ‘Awards Circuit‘ podcast last December and revealed that she is also in touch with the director and continues to discuss it with him.

While speaking on the matter, she said, “Doug and I talk all the time about it. I know Tom wants to do it, hopefully, at some point. But it’s timing, but it’s also been 10 years since we made it…There was an amazing script in the works, but I think it would only have worked if we shot it eight years ago. I’m not saying we’re that ancient, but you have to factor in it’s been 10 years.”
