Jeremy Allen White, the acclaimed star from ‘The Bear‘, is reportedly in discussions to play the iconic rock legend Bruce Springsteen in an upcoming biopic based on the making of his seminal album ‘Nebraska’.

Tentatively titled ‘Deliver Me From Nowhere, the film is based on Warren Zanes’ 2023 book of the same name that revolves around the creative process behind Springsteen’s Nebraska.

While Bruce Springsteen’s discography also includes some stadium-rocking hits like ‘Born to Run‘ and ‘Born in the U.S.A., critics have hailed ‘Nebraska as his absolute masterpiece. Recorded on a basic four-track recorder in a rented house, the album is a prime example of Springsteen’s storytelling talent by using blue-collar character studies and introspective themes.

The potential casting of White as Springsteen has fans excited as they can already see the actor portraying the musician who grappled with depression while on the brink of superstardom. The film will also cover the cinematic influence of ‘Nebraska‘ and the inspiration drawn from Terrence Malick’s Badlands.

Behind the scenes, The Gotham Group led by CEO Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and producer-manager Eric Robinson will be the production incharge. The former head of Netflix Films, Scott Stuber, is onboard as a producer with A24 potentially joining as a studio partner.

Renowned filmmaker Scott Cooper is in discussions to write the screenplay and also direct the film. Springsteen and manager Jon Landau are also said to be involved, though there’s no official confirmation.

If finalized, the film would mark the first cinematic portrayal of Springsteen’s life, after a wave of biopics celebrating artists like Elvis Presley and Bob Dylan.

As Springsteen himself and the E Street Band gear up for a world tour revival, White is busy filming seasons 3 and 4 of ‘The Bearback-to-back.
